For a long time now I've had a problem with constantly picking at my fingers. It's not nice or pretty, but there it is. One year ago today I'd spent the night before making my nails all Christmassy and decided to say screw it and posted a picture to /r/redditlaqueristas, terrible cuticles and all. What I was surprised by was how positive and encouraging everyone on there was. It was that positivity and support that made me feel good enough to start this blog in the first place. I guess I just want to say thanks, both to reddit and everyone else that's come to my blog, I couldn't have done it without you.
On to the nails! To commemorate a year since I first posted a picture of my nails on the internet, I decided I'd recreate the look, to do a direct comparison. Let's take a look at the after first. To start, I applied three coats of Rimmel Stiletto Red, a bright red almost-jelly. You could get away with two coats of this polish but I preferred three, just to make sure my nail line wasn't visible. Once dry I added a coat of an unnamed Love & Beauty polish that's a mixture of green and silver holo glitter in a clear base. Seems though that the green has melted off the glitter, making it look like there's shredded glitter in there too. So this is the after, keep scrolling to see just how much difference a year can make...
The Verdict: I like the polish combination as much now as I did then. The irony of my middle nail looking the same then and now is not lost on me but I'm really happy with how much better my hands look.
Thanks again to everyone that's supported me over the past year, from all the people that have commented to my lovely bf who hasn't made fun of me once, as well as other Laura who has come with me on many a polish run and has helped me get much nicer nails. Thank you!
