OK SO YOU WANT GLITTER, ALRIGHT I'LL GIVE YOU GLITTER. STUPID REDDIT CHALLENGE, GLITTER IS TOO BROAD! Yep, that's a good start to this post. So the challenge this week is glitter, as I mentioned yesterday. While it may seem like a good fit for my aesthetic, it's incredibly intimidating having to pick a style that sums up glitter for me, as well as finding the time to actually do it. I played around with patterns for a while and eventually came up with this: friendship bracelet nails!
To start, I applied two coats of Rimmel Black Satin. I keep coming back to this one, mostly because it goes nice and shiny with Seche Vite and it cleans up well. That's important when you spend as much time lining up glitter as I do. Using my usual system and Sally Hansen Invisible top coat, away I went. I'm finding I'm having more luck with very thin coats of the glitter base so you get a nice even finish. Take my thumb for example. See how the glitter is a bit uneven in the middle? That's because I put too much top coat on and it oozed out the sides. Very thin coats works better, as you'll see toward the edges of my thumb. Because I started late, I didn't want to go all the way to the edges on the rest of my fingers but that worked for the best because now they look like friendship bracelets, yay!
The Verdict: I love how these came out. My camera loves black polish and glitter so the photos came out well. I also like how the strip down the middle elongates my nails. And they're sparkly. Win all round! Full disclosure: I did this pattern just on my right hand. On my left I did the same black base and just sprinkled the rainbow glitter on the wet polish and topped with Seche Vite. Trust me, no one notices. If they do notice, just present your fancy hand. Think of the time saved!
